“People come first” is one of the core values that drives Aspect. While we're confident in our workforce solutions, we're even more certain that our talented team is what makes Aspect truly special. As Aspect Solutions Architect Kyle Pendleton said last week, "I think the people make a huge difference here. It's not just the product, but the people who make it work."
Welcome to “Spotlight On”, a new series that illuminates outstanding team members who have made Aspect what it is today. Each month, we'll take time to highlight a team member's experience and how their time at Aspect has shaped them both professionally and personally.
Today, we’re kicking things off with Lori Dewald, Senior Director of Professional Services. Lori leads our Professional Services team, offering dedicated consulting and support to Aspect customers. Lori plays a key role helping customers find solutions to meet their unique business challenges, providing organizations with tremendous value when partnering with Aspect.
Q: What is your current role at Aspect, and how long have you been with the company?
As of this month, I've been with Aspect for 17 years. My current title is Senior Director of Professional Services.
Q: What path led you to your current position?
Before coming to Aspect, I spent time as both a workforce manager and analyst. Aspect Workforce was one of the main tools I used during this time and that became an important skillset that I brought to the team when I came onboard as a Business Application Consultant. Over time, my responsibilities and role on the team grew to include managing consultants across Aspect’s Professional Services department.
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in the technology industry, and what keeps you passionate about it today?
After college, I started my career in the contact center management industry and was fascinated with the software utilized to manage it. The majority of my focus was in Workforce Management and Contact Center reporting due to my analytical thinking. As my career progressed and I took a consulting role with Aspect, I was able to expand my knowledge on the Workforce and Contact Center industry, which drove more of my curiosity to continue learning.
At Aspect, I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing people that are guiding innovation in workforce software—they help drive my passion. I also want to help customers succeed in this evolving industry and I’m passionate about supporting them as workforce technology advances.
Q: What accomplishment at Aspect are you most proud of?
After so many years, it's difficult to single out one accomplishment. I’m most proud of my determination, dedication, and confidence—both in my own abilities and in my team's. I look forward to continuing my growth and development as a manager, professional, and person as Aspect continues to advance.
Q: As a team leader at Aspect, how do you foster positive culture within your department?
As a leader, my primary focus is ensuring my team builds positive relationships with each other. The best way to do that is connecting with each team member on a personal level. During meetings, I try to incorporate personal touches like team games, employee recognition, and personal discussions about how everyone is doing. When you understand someone personally, it builds a stronger team relationship, improved communication, and a positive work environment.
Q: What’s a valuable lesson you’ve learned from working at Aspect?
That the only thing constant is change. You have to be adaptable, flexible, and transparent to thrive in this industry. Embracing change leads to growth and resiliency—both professionally and personally.
Q: What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy playing cribbage and golf with my husband, as well as traveling. While my son is off at college, my 3 dogs are spoiled with lots of walks and play time. I also maintain an extensive flower and vegetable garden.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to heal people. I can’t think of anything more rewarding than being able to save lives.
